Future research on the role of social factors affecting the pedestrian-oriented revitalization of the city's central core
(Case study: Central fabric of Ahvaz city)
The future study of social components, by identifying emerging trends and developing strategic scenarios, provides a key platform for sustainable urban development. Establishing this approach in the central core of the Ahvaz metropolis is an inevitable necessity for intelligently managing future physical and social challenges and reducing problems such as loss of vitality and decline in collective interactions. This forward-looking approach, while increasing urban resilience, makes it possible to improve the quality of civic life in Ahvaz in a sustainable and innovative way. Accordingly, the aim of the present study is to identify and analyze the key drivers affecting the role of social components in the pedestrian-oriented revitalization of the central core of Ahvaz by the horizon of 2041. This applied research has been carried out with a descriptive-analytical approach and using the cross-effects analysis technique in MICMAC software. The aim of the study is to examine the impact of social components (social capital, public participation, spatial belonging, and collective dynamics) on improving the livability and regeneration of the city's central fabric. The statistical population consisted of 50 managers, urban specialists, and academic experts who were selected using a purposive snowball sampling method. The results show that the pedestrian-oriented revitalization of this area has a nonlinear and causal path; in such a way that root drivers such as public trust, social capital, and cultural identity act as the main driving engines. In contrast, achievements such as vitality and spatial justice are entirely causal in nature, and city managers can only lay the groundwork for the realization of sustainable urban development in the 2041 horizon by strategically focusing on strengthening trust-building
