Abstract
The present study was conducted using a quantitative method with the aim of investigating the social factors affecting the power structure in families in Rasht. Research data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire after assessing its validity and reliability, with a sample size of 384 people from families living in five areas of Rasht city, using a multi-stage random sampling method. According to the research findings: The power structure in families in Rasht is neither traditional nor modern, but a combination of the two - semi-traditional or semi-modern. There is a significant correlation between cultural capital and economic capital and the power structure in the family, and increasing cultural and economic capital leads to the modernization of the power structure in the family. There is a significant inverse correlation between social cohesion and participation and the power structure in the family. Social cohesion and participation are higher in families with a traditional power structure. There is a significant inverse correlation between religiosity and the power structure in the family. Religiosity is higher in families with a traditional power structure. According to the results of multiple regression, the variables social capital, cultural capital, economic capital and religiosity have been able to explain 22 percent of the changes in the power structure in the family. The cultural capital variable is effective with a coefficient of 14 percent, economic capital with 27 percent and religiosity with 19 percent on the changes in the power structure in the family.
