Abstract
Family, as the core social unit, requires special attention and broad support to effectively fulfill its social responsibilities. In this regard, marital satisfaction plays a crucial role in life. Marital satisfaction can be defined as the subjective feeling of contentment, satisfaction, and pleasure experienced by spouses when they evaluate various aspects of their marriage. It emanates from the alignment between an individual’s expectations and their actual situation within the marital relationship. It basically reflects the positive and gratifying spousal attitudes toward different dimensions of their union. The present study aims to assess the impact of socioeconomic factors on marital satisfaction among women. The statistical population consists of married women in the village of Garmab, located in Firouzeh County. Data were collected using a standard questionnaire administered to 255 women aged 11 to 45 who had married before the age of 18. A multistage cluster sampling method was employed. The findings suggest that the variables of age at marriage, education, husband’s education, mother’s education, social trust, gender equality, religious orientation, marital relationship quality, and attitudes toward leisure are positively and significantly linked to the dependent variable. In contrast, husband’s age, financial disharmony, spousal age difference, duration of marriage, spousal educational disparity, authoritarian conflict‑resolution style, and interference by other people in marriage exhibit a significant negative relationship with marital satisfaction. The results of linear regression analysis indicate that the quality of marital relationship, attitudes toward leisure, gender equality, religious orientation, financial agreement, and duration of marriage wield influence on women’s marital satisfaction. It is recommended that policymakers place particular emphasis on variables such as relationship quality, gender equality, and leisure patterns to address this issue.
