Abstract
Given the significance of the relationship between modern communication technologies and social health, this study aims to examine the impact of modern communication technologies on the social health of citizens in the Hakimiyeh neighborhood of Tehran.
The research methodology is survey-based. Using Morgan’s table, a sample size of 364 was determined through simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted via a standardized questionnaire. formal validity was used to establish the study’s validity, and Cronbach's alpha was applied to assess reliability.
Findings indicate that the average score of social health is 3.2774, reflecting a moderate level of social well-being. Among the dimensions of social health, "social cohesion" received the highest average score (3.5105), followed by "social participation" (3.4548), "social acceptance" (3.2857), and "social adaptation" (3.2646). The lowest score was observed in "social flourishing" (2.8489). The average score for the use of modern communication technologies was 2.3, and the level of trust in these technologies was 3.2939, indicating a moderate level of trust.
The study found a significant positive relationship between the use of modern communication technologies, trust in these technologies, and overall social health, including its various dimensions. The results underscore the importance of maintaining social cohesion and participation in the digital era while highlighting challenges related to individual flourishing within social contexts. The findings confirm a meaningful relationship between the use of and trust in modern communication technologies and social health, suggesting that digital communication tools can enhance social connections and contribute to individuals’ social well-being.
