Abstract
Changing the global approach to intelligent consumption constitutes a new and serious issue. This study aims to design a conceptual model for intelligent management of electricity consumption based on social media and networks, using the thematic analysis technique. The statistical sample consisted of 14 experts who were selected using both judgmental and snowball sampling methods. Data collection was conducted using a semi-structured interview. According to the findings, four categories of intelligent management model of electricity consumption based on social media and networks were identified, including “Causal factors underpinning the widespread and sustainable behavioral adaptation to intelligent electricity consumption via social media and networks such as network and social media’s potentials”, “cognitive-cultural factors”, “motivational factors”, and “development of smart technologies, etc.”. Components of the first category, widespread and sustainable behavioral adaptation to intelligent electricity consumption via social media and networks, comprised four dimensions of behavioral, media and communication, extent and inclusion, technology and infrastructure, and sociocultural dimension. Strategies of intelligent management of electricity consumption through social media and networks included different techniques of awareness-raising, persuasion and behavior change, participation and interaction, monitoring and evaluation strategies; finally, the consequences of intelligent management of electricity consumption via media and social networks including behavioral and environmental outcomes such as responsible and sustainable attitudes, and intelligent consumer behavior, among others. The results can help policymaking for intelligent management of electricity consumption through social media and networks.
