Abstract
The current research examines the sociological explanation of the effect of life satisfaction on social indifference among the citizens of Ahvaz city. Life satisfaction is also a social construct that is diverse and multidimensional; which has different dimensions, the question of this research is, what effect can life satisfaction have on the phenomenon of social indifference, which is one of the prevalent phenomena in the last few decades of Iran?
Quantitative method and survey method has been done with questionnaire tool. The statistical population of the research is the citizens over 15 years of age of Ahvaz city, 384 of them have been studied as a research sample by multi-stage random sampling method. The collected data have been analyzed with SPSS and Smart PLS software.
The findings showed: the average satisfaction with life at the level of the statistical population is average, but the level of social indifference is higher than the average level of the spectrum. Life satisfaction has a standard effect equal to -0.313 and life satisfaction can explain 9.7% of the variance of social indifference. Age has an intervention effect on life satisfaction on social indifference, but the intensity of this relationship does not change according to gender.
Social indifference is influenced by life satisfaction, and by establishing the conditions to raise the level of life satisfaction, the level of indifference of society members can be brought to a lower level by approximately less than 10%.
