Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to analyze the content of Persian and social books in elementary school based on the components of identity which includes four components: self-awareness, value, unity and authority. The four components of identity-making derive from the theory of man as agent. According to this theory, human actions constitute his or her identity, and cognition, will, and desire are the foundations of action. Self-awareness includes indicators of self-presentation and description of emotions, emotions, desires, needs and abilities, and self-evaluation, values of 'similarity and difference with others' and 'other self-evaluation', unity component of 'prioritizing' "And" participation in collective action "are the components of authority, including" choice and decision-making "and" consideration of the effect and outcome of action. " The research method is content analysis using Shannon entropy technique. The data collection tool is a researcher-made checklist containing components and identifiers. The textbook analysis unit (text, activities, images) is a total of 1790. The statistical population of the elementary school books of the academic year 1398-1989 and its sample is 16 volumes of Persian books (reading and writing) and social studies of the elementary school. The results of data analysis showed that comparing the analyzed textbooks, the highest frequency of identity components was found in the sixth social studies and the lowest in the first version.
