Abstract

The aim of the present research was to study qualitatively the harms of cyberspace in the first secondary school students of Arak city. To achieve this goal, a qualitative method was used. The data of this study was collected through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis method was used to analyze the data. With the help of purposeful sampling and theoretical saturation criteria, 14 students of the first secondary school of Arak city were interviewed and finally the collected data were coded and analyzed in the form of two macro themes and 8 organizing themes. The results show that six categories of family harm, academic harm, social harm, psychological harm, religious harms and physical harms can be considered as cyber space harms of students. considered Two categories of family reasons (broken and troubled family and mismanagement and supervision) and social reasons (lack of media literacy, normative pressures and leisure time) were proposed as the most important reasons for creating cyberspace harms.
