Abstract

The importance of the leaders’ role in promoting the health of employees is so such that in recent years the concept of "health-oriented leadership" has entered scientific discussions. This is applied-developmental research that uses grounded theory and content analysis to design the research framework and the alignment of its strategies based on reference points has been examined, this research aims to design the framework of health-oriented leadership strategies based on the theory of strategic reference points in public companies involved in the electricity industry. In the first stage of research, the grounded theory is used to design a health-oriented leadership model to discover strategies. At this stage, in addition to identifying various dimensions of health-oriented leadership in public companies working in the electricity industry, the underlying strategies and variables as well as the consequences are identified, and a comprehensive and systematic model is presented based on the structure of the paradigm model of Strauss and Corbin (1998). In the second stage, by drawing on the model designed in the first stage and using content analysis approach, in-depth and semi-structured interviews, data reduction was implemented to formulate the framework of strategies based on the theory of strategic reference points. According to the findings, health-oriented leadership strategies were identified in four categories, including measures to manage the quality of life of employees, occupational measures, management and leadership style, and environmental strategies. Moreover, the results showed that measures to manage the quality of life of employees with leadership based on internal relations, occupational measures with rational leadership, management and leadership style with leadership built on human relations and environmental strategies are aligned with open leadership.
