Abstract
Nowadays, national and ethnic identities are important especially in countries with many minorities. Different factors influence these subjects. Some researchers believe ethnic identities have inevitably grown in the globalization process, but other researchers believe that perhaps we will witness national solidarity and national identity stronger than past, so that individuals will have a compound identity and there would not be any conflict between national and ethnic identities. The main goal of this research is the study of relationship between national and ethnic identities of Azari, Baluch and Arab students in the state university in 1387 and the relation between national and ethnic identities with ''relative deprivation" feeling , ethnic socialization and ethnical language variables. The sample size was 639 people. All in all, the results showed positive relationship between "national and ethnic identities”. Also relative deprivation feeling had a negative relationship with national identity and a positive relation with ethnic identity. Moreover, the results showed that there was no relation between ethnic socialization and ethnic language, on the one hand, and national identity, on the other hand, but there was a positive relationship between these two and ethnic identity. In addition multiple regressions showed that deprivation feeling was the main variable to explain national identity, while ethnic socialization was the main variable accounting for ethnic identity.
