Abstract
Production of science is only made possible through research, and the only form of sustainable development is one based on knowledge and science, one which follows an active economics. The purpose of the present paper is to study the factors affecting the production of science by faculty members of universities. To do so, the writer, taking inspiration from the theories of such scholars as Merton, Austin and Bandora, explores the degree of science production in connection with individual, organizational and social characteristics of faculty members. The statistical sample consists of 198 faculty members, who have provided answers to the question offered to them in a written questionnaire. Using Pearson coordination coefficient, variance analysis test and T-test, the writer has shown that most of research variables including having graduate students, university facilities, job security, value judgment, have a significant relationship with the production of science and confirm the above-mentioned theories.
