Budget and welfare of the families in Tehran: a sociological study of the quality of family life

Abstract

The present research measures the household budget of 623 families residing in Tehran with the aim of finding out the quality of the family welfare. While at the macro level, social welfare as a new concept is the product of the industrial society, at the micro level, it is accessible through promotion of the household budget. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative research methods. While quantitative data were obtained through administering questionnaires, qualitative data were obtained from various sources and documents. Since at present, families need to use more goods and services than any time before, limitations in household budget contribute to increasing controversies. The paper concludes that family’s life quality is strongly influenced by the manner of budgeting and the degree of saving in the family.
