Abstract

Divorce is still a social problem in the country. Contrary to past theoretical and research approaches, it appears that the rise in divorce rates is influenced by different social factors. The purpose of this research is to discover and analyze the issues faced by women seeking divorce in Tabas city. The study was conducted from March 1400 to June 1402 using a qualitative method and interviews with 24 participants who were purposefully selected. Data analysis was conducted using the grounded theory method. The findings show that the most significant reasons for the occurrence of divorce are the multifaceted deterioration of the family and self-centeredness. Background factors contributing to divorce include the erosion of traditional values, conflicts, and legal proceedings. Intervening factors also include the facilitation of divorce, fear, and the reluctance to seek counseling. The central phenomenon is post-traditional divorce, which indicates the increasing number of divorces initiated by women and the predominance of female reasons for divorce in the context of Iranian society. The post-traditional divorce signifies a decline in the significance of past grievances and reasons for divorce, as well as a shift in women's beliefs and norms regarding family dynamics, leading to fundamental changes in how families are perceived and managed. Women are redefining the concept of family, challenging traditional identities and roles, and introducing new mechanisms within the family. They are also redefining the roles, rights, and expectations of women. Definitions that extend beyond the traditional confines of the family.
