Abstract

As European and American countries became industrialized, general sociology was gradually replaced with industrial sociology because the main issues were issues related to the industrial society. In the latter half of the 19th century and the early 20th century there was no clear idea about industrial sociology and its duties. After the Second World War, a more exact definition of the field emerged. With the students’ revolution, industrial sociology was reduced to social philosophy and neo-Marxist theories, but after the seventies, it regained its position. In the late 90s, this discipline was basically employed by production and services establishments and sociologists, instead of studying establishments in relation to the whole society, examined the issues of institutions from the point of view of their employers.
