Abstract

Ethical leadership is related to increasing organizational commitment and altruistic motives in organizations, Therefore, having ethical leadership and benefiting from an ethical atmosphere for any organization can cause favorable results in employees، and produced an acceptable result in organizational commitment and altruistic motives in employees, Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of ethical leadership on the organizational commitment of employees with the mediator role of altruistic motives. Data collection tools were three standard questionnaires of ethical leadership by Brown, Trevino, and Harrison (2005) and organizational citizenship behavior by Padsakoff (2000) and organizational commitment by Allen and Meier (1991). At first, the variables of ethical leadership, organizational commitment, and altruistic motives were explained, then using exploratory factor analysis, the dimensions of ethical leadership variables, organizational commitment, and altruistic motives were investigated, and then using confirmatory factor analysis and with the help of AMOS and SPSS22 software were used to examine the proposed hypotheses and based on the results, there was a significant effect between the research variables and all research hypotheses were confirmed. Based on the findings of the research, ethical leadership has a significant effect on the organizational commitment and altruistic motives of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad employees. Also, altruistic motives have a significant effect on the organizational commitment of employees of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, and ethical leadership with the mediator role of altruistic motives has a significant effect on the commitment of employees of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
